My first on Polyvore : City Adventurer template

http://www.mhaysweetescape.com was nice enough to share with me her Polyvore entry. So I tried putting something together as well. My first Polyvore entry. As I’ve imagined it…An Afternoon City Adventure.

Image

I can see it now: Flying through the city streets with my bike. Friends waiting around the next corner. My favorite camera on hand, ready to shoot just before the sun goes down. And as it will, my buds and I will make our way up the roof top, favorite drinks at hand.

Aeta Love Charms! Leather bracelets by our people

Stumbled upon a group of hippie people signing and playing the tom toms. Some were selling organic products and hand made items down at Eton Centris Q.Ave. Bought these authentic handmade leather pieces they said were made by an Aeta tribe. The man was selling it for a hundred a piece. Said it helped attract love and was a charm to find the right partner. I just laughed and surprisingly took home four bracelets in different colors!

Image

This is actually a blog repost from my tumblr account. The picture above however is an update. It’s a lost shot when my Canon 350D broke. The camera necklaces were given by my dear officemates Rica and Kat. Kat is selling her own jewelry. Check out her peices at http://www.facebook.com/HappyBoon

Christianity & It’s Icons : Modern Art by Sarah Gaugler

Image

College. The beginning of a long time friendship with not only of the arts but also of a certain person I can say have reached heights I am truly proud of. Sarah Gaugler, a lover of turtles (as I do) and beings that are out of this world have exchanged her purple pastels for black leather, a fine corset and a microphone.

Image

Indeed from a vocalist of an electronic rock duo with Mr.Tall Dark and Handsome Paolo Peralta, to a hit at galleries, not to mention an awesome tattoo artist, Sarah has truly outdone herself with her religious pieces at Crucible Gallery, Megamall. Her exhibit, Condemnant Quod Non Intellegunt, is extended til August 26,2012. Make sure to pay a visit to see the expert layering of so many curves, her own translation of anatomy and her views of our biblical icons.

Image

Here’s her dialog on her works, unedited:

In Condemnant Quod Non Intellegunt, is celebration of the survival of Christianity and its icons throughout human history. “In spite of its complexity and the manner it has transferred itself into human interpretation, it still succeeds in its original intent to orate the belief that humans were created out of the love of God, and that our purpose is to love one another.”

Image

Religious icons, have been the medium by which humans connect with God, and the concept of holiness. Though these icons have encountered opposition in many forms, like iconoclasm, they have still managed to thrive in modern time. Many neglect the opportunity and possibility of opening their minds to the impressions and impact that Christian religious icons have had on culture and society, throughout human history. Some are so quick to pass judgment and vandalize these symbols and images, without compassion or understanding. I feel that these images should not be abandoned, but celebrated.

Image

These icons have had their involvements, challenges, mysteries, wars, treaties, inspirations, and travels throughout the world for thousands of years, and has affected innumerable lives. Their symbolic power and bearing, reaches an expanse greater than one may not ever completely comprehend in a single experience. My impetus is respect and appreciation for the images that serve as representations of enlightenment and hope, to those in darkness & despair, and respect to the first artists who have had the chance to create the basic universal imagery of these holy representatives of faith.

Image

I want to express my own experience of creating art from receiving inspiration, as the artist, and the opportunity to execute, and share it to progressive viewers. I am desiring that my iconologies be absorbed as symbols of personal inspiration, personal interpretation, or call it what you may-these can simply be constructions made by the use of ink and lines assembled in an considered fashion to depict a pleasant illustration or artwork.”

Black and Reds: Rockin’ leather from Glenmore!

Paid a visit to Metrowalk the other day and went back to my favorite leather goods store. Although I was more of visiting a friend, a familiar face is a much needed therapy after rounding what seems like endless rows of cd and clothing stalls. At the far end corner, still very much vintage and homey is the Glenmore shoes store. I quickly scanned for the owner and sat down for a chat. There were new leather works on display and I can’t help but look around while talking.

Next thing I knew, I was home, looking at this black and red pair, thinking of a nice match for it. Felt like rockin’ that look with my awesome new boat shoes! Thanks Glenmore! These however are no ordinary pair when it comes to design.

Image

Notice how the Toe box was sewn-in with red leather. The details are amazingly done by hand! What I love is the black thick lace detail at the middle, and how the ends were knotted.

Image

Thanks to Mhay A. (mhaysweetescape.com) for doing my hair and make-up. We had fun gooping up my new short do. Can style it any way I like!

Lomography pins all the way from HK!

The armor ring is an anime fandom from Ai Yazawa’s  Japanese shōjo manga series, Nana. Original design was done by Vivienne Westwood. Giving credits to Riah for the wardrobe mix!

Going for a Lomowalk (right after the rain of course!)

Special delivery! My birthday package has finally arrived! It came last week but since my brother’s untimely mishap with a mosquito and nights in the hospital, I’ve only had this Monday til yesterday to set everything up.

Image

This Lomo bag’s print is high-grade and everything! Love it!

Image

Working out that artsy look. Red beanie from Promod, cotton green top from Lee, red Converse high-cut sneakers and round Ray-ban glasses. Also on the photo are my awesome Lomography stuffs!

Image

Finally, my new P-Sharan pinhole is here. Excited for the idea of building my own cam, it reminded me of my high school days, working on plastic Gundams and little motored cars. Rather macho I know but these are more interesting than the usual toy figures you just stare at on display.

Image

A little back check, on Pinhole cameras: a simple camera without a lens and with a single small hole in one side, exposes film to take photographs.

Image

Took me about an hour and a half to assemble. As soon as the week brightens up, will take it out for a test run!

Image

Literal shutter buttons I also had shipped. Been loving that Russian “Lomo” lettering since way back!

Til Lomography’s next major sale. Saving up piggie points for that! To do your own film camera and accessories shopping, visit http://asia.shop.lomography.com/

Thanks for reading! Also wishing a bright sunny weather soon here the Philippines!

Diana Leather case mod for your 35mm back!

Bought yourself the Diana F+ leather case but often using a 35mm back? Worry no more! This little mod will help make all its parts fit in style!

Image

What you’ll need:

1.    Sharp craft knife (X-acto or Surgical knife would be best!)
2.    Eyelet puncher
3.    Ruler
4.    A Pen
5.    Cutting board

Step 1: With your fingers, mark the area where the Exposure Counters knob is hitting. With a pen, dot out or place marks on the area you think should be cut.

Step 2: Connect your maker points with a ruler so you can define the very shape of the area that you’ll be cutting. A rectangular shape of about 65mm in width and 12mm in height would probably do the trick!

Image

Step 3: With the X-Acto knife, carefully cut the two horizontal lines / top & bottom lines that defines the height of the Exposure Counters. We’ll get to the left and right side in a while. Getting to approximate first is very important. We don’t wanna cut out too much.

TIP:  The best way to cut is to do it by layers. First apply a reasonable amount of strength through the marked points. Repeat until you feel your blade has already reached the cutting board.

Image

You should have two slits that shapes as our soon “free space” for the Exposure Counters. Now we move on to the area as to which a small semi-circle knob rests just below it,

Image

Step 4: Since the Diana leather case already has a square hole for the original Diana backing, we’ll be cutting a lot more easily and with a lot less effort. From the top edges of the square, mark or draw a semi-circle connecting to the bottom line you have just cut.

Image

Step 5: Now carefully cut out that part first. Viola, you have free space for that small knob that lumps out of your case.

Step 6: And last, cut the remaining sides for the Exposure Counters. This way you can carefully assess how long you wanna cut that leather.

Image

Image

(Optional) If you were a bit shaky while cutting the leather and seem to have left ugly edges, use an eyelet puncher to smooth it out! Simply punch away the area of the unwanted extra / mistakenly cut leather and do the same for all edges to add some style!
